Reciprocal Rights is one of the fantastic privileges that come from club membership, with Clubs New Zealand administering reciprocal rights between our more than 310 member clubs. It means that no matter where your members travel they are almost guaranteed to find a club that they can pop into and enjoy the hospitality.

With club systems and procedures for identifying Authorised Customers and Authorised Visitors getting more robust and actively monitored we are finding that members are getting into potentially embarrassing situations when they visit other clubs unprepared and with no membership card.

New Government, New Employment Laws, More Costs for Employers

Are your employment records up to scratch?

Since last July labour inspectors have issued more than $370,000 in fines and more than 130 infringement notices to businesses who have failed to keep or maintain employee records. Those numbers look likely to increase if the Labour Government moves forward in doubling the number of labour inspectors over the next three years. Unsurprisingly it is the hospitality and horticulture industries which are tagged as the worst record keeping offenders.

Workplace Health and Safety Audits

There has been some word that clubs have been approached by various health and safety providers making claims that clubs must undertake health and safety audits in order to be compliant. The clubs we have spoken to have been told that if they fail to sign up for the companies audit they are in breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act and will be liable for large fines.

Clubs need to be preparing for the Minimum Wage increases now

One of the first major announcements to come from the new coalition Government was the commitment to increasing the minimum wage to $20 an hour by 2021, which will be kicked off with an increase from the current minimum wage of $15.75 to $16.50 as of 1 April 2018.
