Remuera Club, formerly known as The Commerce Club of Auckland, invites you to an Open Day Sunday 30th October to view its refurbished premises and enjoy drinks and nibbles.

The change of name and refurbishment is part of the clubs five-year plan, which will result in a greater use of the club's facilities and attract a younger participatory member group to carry the club forward in a positive direction.

Labour Day - Employee Entitlements

Labour Day is fast approaching and this year falls on Monday 24th October (fourth Monday in October). Unlike the 2016/17 Christmas and New Years Holidays which will involve "Tuesdayisation", calculating employee entitlements for labour day should be simple and can be done with the click of a button in most payroll systems these days.

As with all public holidays you first need to establish if the day the public holiday falls would otherwise be a working day for the employee. In most cases it’s easy to work out whether or not an employee would have normally worked on the day in question (known as an otherwise working day) because the working pattern or roster is constant and the employer and employee can agree about whether the employee would otherwise have worked that day.

Just because they signed in doesn’t mean they can be served or supplied that beer!

Most people know and expect when they visit a club they will be required to sign-in. Clubs have used sign-in registers for years, yet unless the signing in process is actively monitored and coupled with physical checks of membership cards it does not identify whether a person is an authorised customer or an authorised visitor – just because someone has signed a visitors book by the door does not mean they are automatically entitled to be sold or supplied alcohol.
