27 October 2022
Yesterday the Fair Pay Agreements Bill passed its third reading and will shortly receive Royal Assent. The overarching policy objective attached to the bill is to enable employers and employees to collectively bargain industry-wide or occupation-wide minimum employment terms. This is because at present, New Zealand’s employment relations and employment standards regulatory system only allows for collective bargaining at an enterprise level (i.e. between individual employers and unions). There is no mechanism for parties to co-ordinate collective bargaining across entire occupations or industries. The bill aims to address this gap.
There is a lot to be said about this bill, and it is fair to say that opponents of the bill have felt the need to carefully measure their response, for fear of being labelled "greedy", "exploitative" or "anti-employment rights".

13 October 2022
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is currently seeking feedback on what regulations should be made under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and what those regulations should prescribe.
We already know that the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 will introduce some sweeping changes to how incorporated societies operate once they re-register under the new Act, however, the new Act also provides that some of the details of the new regime are to be prescribed by regulation.
It is time to make sure your eftpos machines are ready for the new compliance requirements
8 September 2022
As many of you are probably aware, there are a lot of older eftpos machines that need upgrading/replacing by April 2023 to meet compliance. If you are considering using ClubPOS in the future, it would be worthwhile ensuring that you get an eftpos machine that is compatible during this changeover, or when your contract is up for renewal.
Clubs New Zealand Road Show
25 August 2022
During June and August members of the Clubs New Zealand National Office Team hit the road for the Clubs New Zealand Road Show. The aim of the Road Shows was simple, we wanted to take the show on the road and give clubs the opportunity to get together and catch up on some of the latest developments from the team at National Office, this was particularly important given the last few years of restricted travel.
The Road Show was held in six different locations (2 in the South and 4 in the North) and in total was attended by over 180 club representatives. We would like to thank everyone who took the time out to come along to the Road Show, we really valued the opportunity to sit down and talk through key topics impacting our industry and hearing directly from you.

This week Leigh has been taking another look at member draw software and there are a lot to choose from. Admittedly many are very basic, but he tested a few of the better offerings and one that stands out as having great features for the $$$ is Club Raffle.
Customer or debtor? Are we treating renewals and membership fees as an opportunity?
29 June 2022
The team at National Office have recently uncovered an audio recording from the Clubs New Zealand Conference and AGM, 1999. The audio is of a keynote presentation from Steve Parker, expert in marketing and associated matters, and a well established “clubby”. This wasn’t the first time Steve spoke at a Clubs New Zealand event and it certainly was not the last, but what is striking about this particular, 23-year-old piece of audio is that it is 100% relevant to clubs today.
The Clubs New Zealand 2022 Wage and Salary Survey is Open
9 June 2022
The Clubs New Zealand Wage and Salary Survey is back for 2022 and open for all clubs to complete now.
The results from the Wage and Salary Survey allow us to create the annual Wage and Salary Guide which is an incredibly sought after resource. The Wage and Salary Guide will only be prepared if we receive enough responses to the survey, as we want to ensure we are creating relevant and meaningful resources for clubs to use.
