For those of you with Class 4 Gaming Machines you will be well aware that the Department has carried out Mystery Shopper Exercises first in 2014 (non-club venues only) and then again in 2016 (included club venues). The goal for the Department of Internal Affairs is now to introduce a rolling mystery shopper campaign, which much like a CPO would mean on any day at any time someone in your venue could be putting you to the test.

Next month the Clubs New Zealand sporting calendar will kick off with the South Island Men's Golf Teams at the Oamaru Club. This year we have produced a one page easy to print calendar showing all Clubs New Zealand tournaments by month and by sport.

Once again, we would like clubs to take the time to review your practices, procedures and rules to ensure that you are complying with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, particularly in relation to Section 60. We are aware that the Police are intending to increase their monitoring of clubs in the Wellington area and there is absolutely no reason to believe that this will not be the case elsewhere. The Police are quoted as saying “Ignorance of the Act is no longer an excuse and clubs must be prepared to face enforcement action if they are discovered operating outside the conditions of their licence or in breach of the Act.”

The annual update forms are online and come pre-populated based on the information we currently hold for your club. As always, we ask that once you receive the form you carefully check each section and make any necessary changes or additions prior to submitting.
