Using Failure as a tool for Growth
17 June 2021
When it comes to failure, the age-old adage claims that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
Though this may be true, the fear of not achieving your goals can cause anxiety and inhibit future progress. The self-doubt and stress activates your brain's reactive neural networks, reducing your problem-solving capacity and emotional regulation.
Dealing with false or misleading vaccine information in your workplace
17 June 2021
Not everything online is factual and accurate. We can quickly and subconsciously accept news that aligns with our beliefs and negatively react to information that is different. It’s important to take time and reflect when you read something about the COVID-19 vaccine, before acting.
Social media companies typically use algorithms to pick up false and misleading information. You may have seen a flag or small message on certain posts advising that the information is related to COVID-19 and will link you to a trusted source. These aren’t 100% fool proof. It’s important to remain vigilant with the information you share or post online. Always cross-check and review anything online regarding the vaccine by using the reliable sources listed below.

Do not be too hasty in amending your constitutions
3 June 2021
Many clubs that we have spoken too are gearing up to make amendments to their constitutions in preparation for the Incorporated Societies Bill being passed into law. While we applaud the enthusiasm, we would advise clubs to hold off making any amendments at this time.
The bill has yet to pass the select committee phase and still has to make its was through the second reading, committee of whole House and third reading before it will be given Royal Assent. During these phases things can change and we have possible regulations to take into consideration. You don't want to be adopting amendments only to have to go and change them again 12 months later.

Protecting our privileges
20 May 2021
The below update from ClubsNSW CEO, Josh Landis was published in the May issue of ClubLIFE Magazine.
Over the last year, clubs have become masters of the 'pivot'. Constant changes in health guidelines meant clubs would receive advice from ClubsNSW in the evening, brief their staff in the morning, update their COVID-19 safety plans and be implementing completely new processes by lunchtime. Club managers who used to say "that can't be done" have got on and done it.
Is your constitution, really your constitution?
20 May 2021
With the Incorporated Societies Bill working its way through the legislative process, all clubs are going to need to review their constitutions in the near future. Clubs New Zealand's recommendation is that during the transitional period, clubs use the opportunity to modernise, streamline and ensure that the clubs constitution is a fit-for-purpose set of rules.
The first step in this review process, will be to ensure that the constitution you have in front of you, is in fact the constitution that is registered with the Incorporated Societies Office.
