The famous kiwi meat raffle, popular in clubs and bars around New Zealand, now has a national day.
A brand-new initiative, the Club's New Zealand National Raffle Day is being celebrated in 50 clubs across New Zealand between Monday 22nd September to Sunday 28th September 2025.
Lucy Waterreus, CEO of Clubs New Zealand, says while the National Raffle Day puts the spotlight on the kiwi past time of $2 raffle tickets and hearty meat packs, it's also the perfect way for clubs across New Zealand to come together to raise funds for mental health, build stronger clubs and stronger communities, together.
"No matter where you are in NZ, if you turn up to a club you are likely to enjoy the famous raffle past time. For most clubs, this involves buying a $2 raffle ticket in the hope of winning a meat pack, or tray. And while these raffles are a lot of fun, the National Day is about raising funds for Club Connect, our mental health and wellbeing initiative," shares Lucy.
Early estimates suggest fundraising could hit the $30,000 mark.
"Club Connect will use these vital resources to continue its work educating, collaborating, and supporting communities across New Zealand about health and wellbeing. We thank all the clubs who have got involved and wish them well in their fundraising efforts," shares Lucy.
