About the Taradale Club:
The Taradale Club is a popular social club that exists to provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for its members and the wider community. It serves as a hub for various activities and social gatherings, offering facilities like a restaurant (Pikopiko), a bar, and spaces for indoor and outdoor bowls, pool, golf, fishing, and other games and events. Essentially, the club aims to foster a sense of belonging, provide entertainment and leisure opportunities, and offer a comfortable environment for people to connect and socialise.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Executive Committee through the Club President, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and profitable running of all club operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and implement operational and business plans to meet financial and strategic objectives, while maintaining a strong member focus.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Club Promotion & Membership Growth
· Develop and implement a positive and ongoing programme that publicises and promotes the club
· Ensure the maximum utilisation of the club's various facilities and continued growth in club membership
· Plan and implement a schedule of regular varied activities and functions that cater for as wide a range of
membership as possible
· Review the strengths of the club in relation to its existing membership and present ideas to the committee
for functions and events that will assist in expanding the membership base
· Review and report on ideas and opportunities to publicise the club to the public to encourage new membership applications
· A key part of your role will involve enhancing the club's appeal as an inclusive community and social hub, while strategically developing initiatives to attract and grow corporate engagement and membership
Financial Performance & Strategic Planning:
· Implement and maintain measurably and ongoing increases in turnover that includes a sustainable increase in net profit
· Study and interpret trading results
· Keep prices and mark-ups under constant review and make recommendations as you see fit
· Develop and implement operational and business plans to assist in meeting the financial and strategic objectives of the club
Operational Excellence & Compliance:
· Ensure that all necessary licenses and certificates are up to date and renewed
· Ensure that the club operates lawfully
· Ensure that the club's policies and procedures are enforced
· Develop a positive culture within the club focused on customer service
· Be responsible for the security of premises, stock, cash, and other assets of the club
Personnel & Team Development:
· Oversee the delegation of authority and responsibilities under the general supervision of all staff
· Be conversant with all aspects of the employment agreements for and/or on behalf of the club
· Focus on staff motivation, training, and the maintenance of effective employer/employee relations
· Control effective and economical rosters
Contractor Management:
· Oversee all contractors engaged by the club
· Negotiate and assist in overseeing the catering contract, menu planning, service, and hygiene standards in restaurant and bistro areas to the club's satisfaction
Stock Control:
· Maintain permanent records of all goods ordered and received and stocks held at any given time
· Ensure that assessments are undertaken as directed by the Executive
Gaming Operations:
· Ensure accuracy in the handling and recording of all gaming income
· Report to the appropriate government agencies and ensure compliance with the distribution of funds
Marketing & Promotion:
· Plan and implement within defined budgets a marketing and promotional strategy for the club
· Oversee all marketing initiatives
· Supervise and control all advertising
Administration & Reporting:
· Ensure in conjunction with the club auditor that all assets and risks of the club are adequately covered
· Maintain an up-to-date asset register
· Maintain a proper record of bookings for private and club functions
About You:
You will be an honest and reliable individual with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. You possess a positive and professional manner, excellent personal hygiene, and the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Good time management skills are essential.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Current Manager's Certificate in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
· Must be able to qualify as a Key Person under the terms of regulations attached to the Gambling Act 2003
