With many clubs approaching their AGMs and likely to welcome new committee members in the coming months, now is the right time to ensure those stepping into governance roles have a clear starting point.
Being part of a club committee is a significant responsibility. Committee members play a critical role in ensuring their club is well governed, financially sound and operating in the best interests of its members. To support this, we've created a New Committee Checklist aimed at providing a practical guide for anyone stepping into a governance role.
The checklist is not exhaustive, but it provides a clear, practical foundation and helps remove some of the guesswork for new committee members.
Supporting governance across our network
Alongside the checklist, we continue to provide a wide range of governance resources through the Clubs New Zealand website, including guidance on committee roles, meeting processes, and officer responsibilities.
We also encourage committees to consider Governance and Club Fundamentals Training, which complements this checklist and builds capability across the board.
