National Raffle Day - Why we need every Club on board
21 August 2025
Circular 25-060 Relevant for Club Committees and Management |
On 28 September, clubs across the country will come together for Clubs New Zealand's first National Raffle Day. We are asking every cub to run just one raffle, something clubs do every day, and dedicate the proceeds to Club Connect, our nationwide wellbeing and community support initiative.
Currently we have 9 clubs registered and a further 8 who have confirmed they will submit their registration before the closing date next week, we sincerely thank you for supporting this initiative. However, we do need more clubs to get involved.
We have heard some feedback from clubs and concern raised that "we are struggling and need to focus on our own club" or "you're taking our raffle money." We want to address these concerns head on.
One Raffle, One Day, One Collective Impact
We're not asking clubs to hand over their resources or take on a big new burden. All we are asking is for clubs to run one raffle in the lead up to, or on, National Raffle Day. Every dollar raised goes directly to Club Connect, an initiative designed to support the club movement as a whole and strengthen the communities that clubs serve.
This is not about taking away from your club. It's about contributing to something bigger, something that ultimately every club will benefit from.
Why it Matters
Clubs New Zealand is regularly asked: "What are you doing to promote clubs nationally?" National Raffle Day is a prime example. A coordinated effort across hundreds of clubs creates the kind of national impact and media opportunities that no single club is likely to achieve alone. It puts clubs in the spotlight, showcasing our role as community hubs and highlighting the contribution we make across New Zealand.
But for this to work, it requires collective effort. If only a handful of clubs get involved, the opportunity is lost.
Together we are Stronger
We understand it is a tough operating environment out there, however, the strength of the club movement has always been in our ability to stand together. With each club running just one raffle, we send a powerful message: that clubs care about community connection, mental health, and the future of our movement.
National Raffle day is about more than raising funds, its about raising the profile of clubs. If we work together, we can show New Zealand that nobody does raffles, or community, better than clubs.
Please register by Friday 29th August. You can find all the details on National Raffle Day and the registration form by clicking here.
