An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the General Manager of the Levin Cosmopolitan Club and use your leadership, strategic thinking, and hospitality expertise to lead a well-established club with more than 1,800 members in the growing community of Levin.

Established in 1900, the Levin Cosmopolitan Club has a proud history of serving its members. Our vision is to be one of New Zealand's leading chartered clubs by delivering innovation, exceptional customer service, and genuine care for our members and guests.

As General Manager, you will be supported by an experienced Executive Committee that takes governance seriously while providing the autonomy and trust needed to achieve the Club's mission, goals, and strategic objectives.

The Role

You will provide leadership across all aspects of the Club's operations, including:

  • Leading the implementation of the Club's strategic direction.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing the annual business plan, budgets, and operational policies.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with members, staff, suppliers, and the wider community.
  • Ensuring exceptional member and guest satisfaction through outstanding service.
  • Maintaining high standards across all Club facilities, services, and products.
  • Leading and developing a positive, high-performing team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

About You

The successful applicant will demonstrate experience and capability in the following areas:

  • Proven leadership experience within a club, hospitality, or similar customer-focused environment.
  • Hold a current General Manager's Certificate in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
  • Sound understanding of gaming machine operations, compliance requirements, and a working knowledge of the Gambling Act 2003 and associated regulations.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to balance long-term planning with day-to-day operational priorities.
  • Confidence in making sound decisions in a dynamic environment while supporting the Club's vision, mission, values, and objectives.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate staff while earning the respect of members, employees, and the wider community.
  • A professional, ethical, and responsible approach both within and outside the workplace, setting a positive example for the team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the diplomacy and confidence to work effectively with members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated financial and business management capability appropriate for a senior leadership role.
  • Proven ability to set clear goals, delegate effectively, coach senior managers, and develop staff.
  • A positive attitude towards change, innovation, and technology to help lead the Club into the future.
