Facebook Is Charging for Links: Here’s What Clubs Can Do

Circular 26-067 Relevant for member clubs |
Facebook (Meta) have begun charging businesses for posting links to outside websites.
If your club posts on facebook with a link to an external site such as your own website, band website, online ticketing, or virtually anything outside of facebook and instagram, then you will be charged.
The current charging model only allows for two posts with an outside link per month for free. After that you will need to select a paid tier, which includes a whopping $900+ monthly fee for unlimited links.
There was previously a workaround where you could post the link in the comments to avoid charging but this has now been changed.
You will know if you have reached your limit as you will see a popup displayed like this.
If you are using facebook as your primary online presence (or even if you’re not), now might be a good time to think about getting your own website.
Clubs New Zealand offers you an almost free website which is professional and easy to maintain, plus it is integrated directly with the Clubs New Zealand App (free to your members).
That means if you post an ad on your website it is also displayed on the front page of the app for all of your members to see on the same page as their digital membership card.
