Could your club win the inaugural Clubs New Zealand Quiz League?

Clubs New Zealand is proud to launch the Clubs New Zealand Quiz League in partnership with Believe it or Not. This is a new national competition designed to bring members together, build club pride and create consistent, weekly engagement through something we know works: a great quiz night.

This isn't about prize money. It's about bragging rights.

From June, clubs across the country will go head-to-head over 13 weeks to determine which club has the strongest quiz teams in New Zealand. We'll also be introducing the Clubs NZ Quiz League trophy, giving teams something tangible to complete for and celebrate.

What's involved

• Starts: Week of 1 June 2026
• Season: 13-week Winter League (June-August)
• Qualification: Minimum of 8 weekly scores
• Winner: Highest average team score across the season

Scores will be tracked nationally via the leaderboard, allowing clubs to see how they stack up week-to-week.

The opportunity for clubs is simple: encourage more teams to form, existing teams to recruit new players, and members to bring in friends and family to strengthen their line-ups.

If teams struggle with music from the 2000s, recruit someone who knows it. Weak on sport, movies, or history? Find players who lift the average. The stronger the teams, the stronger the club’s position nationally.

Delivered in partnership with Believe it or Not

We're pleased to be delivering the Quiz League with Believe it or Not, New Zealand's largest quiz operator, already working with clubs across the country.

If you're already running Believe it or Not Quizzes, you're already good to go.

If not, getting started is straightforward:

• Download Believe it or Not's software on to a laptop to run your quiz, or via an AMS or Orange Door system.
  
• Teams answer questions by writing in the quiz answer booklets. 
  
• Teams interested in qualifying through to leaderboards must login via a QR code when they start the quiz, not all teams have to do this if they don’t want to participate in the leaderboards of course https://leaderboard.believeitornot.co.nz/
  
• Full training is provided to new venues.
  
• A BION subscription can be cancelled at any time, if it works for you, it works for us!
