Upper Hutt is experiencing exponential growth in hospitality offerings, our innovative approach will provide further choices to satisfy a variety of tastes for our 7500 members, the local community and visitors to the region.

The Role

Following a structural review, we want to entrust the future of our Food and Function offerings into the hands of a visionary to implement a fresh direction incorporating traditional with the flair of modern-style dining.

This is a unique chance to introduce a modern menu and stylish character across our existing restaurant, cafe and function catering, as well as shaping our brand-new eatery due for completion in early 2022. With one of Wellington’s best equipped kitchen facilities, this multi-million-dollar fitout introduces a modern décor, brunch and al fresco style dining with a new eatery and bar.

A competitive remuneration package is offered to the right candidate who can keep the Club relevant creating modern day fare for the new generation of club goers while taking care of our ever-growing customer base of 7500 members and visitors.

This role reports to the General Manager and will working closely with the Manager, Bar Operations and our Marketing & Comms Advisor to provide a rewarding dining experience and drive function sales.

The successful applicant will have:

  • The ability to create a sustainable and successful food and function facility, to be a drawcard to members and non-members alike.
  • Creative flair and a passion for the latest culinary trends to consistently thrill customers with amazing flavours, variety, service and value.
  • Sharp business acumen with proven experience in the successful marketing and operation of eateries.
  • A strong leader with the ability to build and inspire successful teams, developing your team of 20 staff to deliver the highest standard of service in a supportive environment.
  • Ability to implement and utilise leading-edge systems, processes, and costing techniques to ensure profitable and efficient operations.
  • Commitment to the safe operation of food service demonstrating the highest standards, with a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and safety practices.
  • Ability to engage with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve successful partnerships capable of delivering produce and services that enable price competitive and quality options for your chefs.
