Submissions now open on the Incorporated Societies Bill
14 April 2021
Public submissions are now being called for Incorporated Societies Bill.
The bill proposes to put in place a modern framework of basic legal, governance, and accountability obligations for incorporated societies and those who run them.
The proposed bill is far more in depth than the current 1908 Act and Clubs New Zealand will be submitting on behalf of members. There is not a big lead in for these submissions so any feedback that clubs have on the bill should be directed to National Office asap.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing more information on the bill, areas of interest and potential changes that clubs and committees will need to be aware of.
If your club would like to make an individual submission here's what you need to know:
The closing date for submissions is Friday, 28 May 2021
- Submissions are publicly released and published to the Parliament website. Only your name or organisation’s name is required on a submission. Please keep your contact details separate, as if they are included on the submission they will become publicly available when the submission is released.
- If you wish to include information of a private or personal nature in your submission you should discuss this with the clerk of the committee before submitting.
- If you wish to speak to your submission, please state this clearly.
Further guidance on making a submission can be found from the ‘How to make a submission’ page on the Parliament website.
