We have a vacancy for the role of General Manager (GM) of the Porirua Club Inc.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to use their leadership, strategic thinking, and well-honed hospitality skills to take this newly renovated club of over 3700 members to another level.

Porirua Club is one of Wellington’s premier clubs, enjoying an expanding membership of all ages. Our reputation for sports & entertainment is well-earned and great hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

As General Manager you will be well supported by an Executive that takes their Governance and Management roles seriously and gives autonomy to the GM to achieve the mission, goals, and objectives set by the Club’s Executive Committee.

Our GM will ensure members & guests receive quality service and that our hospitality options are of a high standard.

The successful applicant will need skills and knowledge in the following areas:

• Demonstrate ability to understand business finance and budgets.
• Excellent standard of written and oral communication.
• Computer literate, confident with Microsoft Office, and comfortable with other technology including database, POS & cash management software.
• Gaming licence - Be able to be approved by the Department of Internal Affairs to operate gaming machines.
• Understand gaming machine requirements, procedures and have a working knowledge of the Gambling Act 2003.
• Understand and demonstrate experience in all aspects of bar operations.
• Attract and co-ordinate functions and events for the benefit of club members.
• Have the ability to promote and market the club as a community hub.
• Be the holder of a General Managers Certificate in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Liquor Act 2012.
• Pro-active, energetic approach to the management of staff, a cheerful personality, and a genuine interest in people.
• A little bit of ingenuity, a can-do approach with a pinch of patience is what you will need to succeed in this role.
