Online Gambling Public Consultation Now Open
1 August 2019
The Department of Internal Affairs has commenced its consultation on the Online Gambling in New Zealand Public Discussion Document.
The Government is interested in knowing what is important to your organisation when it comes to regulating online gambling in New Zealand. The current Gambling Act is from 2003, and like a lot of legislation, it is being challenged by the increasing use of the internet.
Cabinet agreed last September that the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Associate Minister of Health would work together to make sure online gambling policy is fit for purpose. This discussion document and the submissions that the DIA receive from you are the first steps in the policy development process.
The Department have summarised the discussion document in a Quick Read version.
Consultation closes 30 September 2019
All the documents, including the submission form, can be found at: www.dia.govt.nz/onlinegamblingconsultation.
