Important information for Clubs accessing EMS reports - Security Change 18 March

11 March 2020

Back in December 2019 we shared information from the Department of Internal Affairs about web browsers (Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge, and Firefox) dropping support for some of the old security methods.

The Department of Internal Affairs have now confirmed the date of the security change is Wednesday 18 March 2020.

What does this mean to you?  If your web browser is still running old security, you will no longer be able to access many websites.  The biggest concern for clubs is access to the VMS or EMS for your gaming systems, especially but not limited to, if you are using an old windows xp or vista machine for this.

For peace of mind, please click or enter the following link on the machine you use for accessing your gaming system.  This will check the TLS version being used.  TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will no longer be supported which means you will need to upgrade your browser.

Please click this link for testing your browser TLS version and check what it says under ‘Version’.  It needs to be at least 1.2 or 1.3 – www.howsmyssl.com

How to upgrade

Here is a link on how to upgrade your browser to version 1.2 - https://knowledge.digicert.com/generalinformation/INFO3299.html

If you need help with how to do this or have any questions, please send Leigh an email – leigh@clubsnz.com
