Easter Trading 2021
25 March 2021
Around this time of year we always get questions from clubs regarding Easter Trading Hours and how they apply to Club Licences. Below is a quick summary of any restrictions and things to consider now.
The Easter weekend this years covers;
Good Friday | Friday 2nd April |
Public Holiday (Employee Entitlements Apply) Trading Restrictions apply to On and Off Licences |
Easter Sunday | Sunday 4th April |
Not a Public Holiday but employees can refuse to work* Trading Restrictions apply to On and Off Licences |
Easter Monday | Monday 5th April |
Public Holiday (Employee Entitlements Apply) No Trading Restrictions apply |
Section 47 Sale and supply on Anzac Day morning, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day restricted: on-licences does NOT affect club licences. Holders of club licences are able trade on these days.
For Club Licence holders the thing you need to be mindful of is whether you want to open outside of your usual trading hours on these days. You will need to confirm whether your Territorial Authority uses the Default National Maximum Trading Hours of 8am on any day to 4am on the next day, or whether the Territorial Authority has a Local Alcohol Policy with different trading hours as these will override the default national maximum and any conditions specified on your current individual club licence.
Clubs wishing to open earlier or later on Good Friday or Easter Sunday will need to check their Club Licence, Local Alcohol Policy and you may be required to have a special licence in place.
Trading Hours for Off Licence holders
For clubs who hold an off-licence you will need to ensure that no alcohol is sold on or delivered from the premises on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
If you have any questions regarding Easter Trading please contact National Office on 0800 4 CLUBS.
