Ditch the plastic with the Clubs New Zealand App

24 June 2020

Those of you using the Clubs New Zealand mobile app will have seen that earlier this year we released some updates to the app which included a QR code and improvements to the club locator.

Leigh has produced a quick video to show you these new features in action, click the video tile below to open the video in youtube;

Scanning the digital membership card

The enhancements to the digital membership card are all about making it easier for members and club staff. We want members to be able to go out and about with one less card to worry about and we want to help your staff be confident that they are serving authorised customers and authorised visitors.

Clubs using SwiftPos can start scanning the in app QR code for your members in just a few easy steps.  We are working with other point of sale providers such as BePoz and hope to have this ready to go in the near future.

These updates to the app are all about setting the ground work to enable clubs to be able to scan the in app digital membership card to confirm that the person is a member of a reciprocal club i.e. when you scan the QR code it will check the Clubs New Zealand National Database.

Club Locator

The club locator has been given a boost and now makes it easier for members to find the information they are after.

We have added a new button which now allows members to visit your clubs website from the app with just one tap of a button.

How to help your members get on board with the Clubs New Zealand app

Anyone can download and start using the app right away, however, the sign in function which provides the digital membership card is only available to those who have registered their membership details with Clubs New Zealand as this feature is powered by our CRM (customer relationship manager).

We have a form set up on the Clubs New Zealand website which members can complete and collects all the information required to generate the digital membership card, members can also sign up from directly within the app.

We also suggest that all club committee members and managers should submit your membership information so that you can see what is it all about.

Once a member has signed up we will contact the club to verify that the membership details are correct, this process can be sped up when your club comes onboard with the National Database.

Be a part of the National Database

We invite clubs to submit their databases to Clubs New Zealand and this will remove the need to individually verify each member that wants to sign up for the app (there are a number of clubs receiving multiple verification requests).

To share your database you will need to send through to Clubs New Zealand a CSV file exported from your database.

The data fields we are asking for are (those with an Asterix are required);

  • Salutation
  • Member First Name*
  • Member Surname*
  • Date of Birth*
  • Email*
  • Phone
  • Mobile
  • Membership Number*
  • Membership Expiry*
  • Membership Type*

We have produced an excel template so that you can see exactly what information we require and the format we require it in for the data import to be successful.

Download the Data Import Template

Once you have exported your member data please send it through to lucy@clubsnz.com we will review the data file to ensure that it will be successfully loaded.

Once we are able to load your members data we will come back to you to confirm it is good to go.  We are here to talk through how it all works, why we are doing this, the benefits we are looking to provide your club and members and any concerns you might have.  Please contact National Office on 0800 4 CLUBS so that we can help your members get their hands on the future.
