Update on Cashless Gaming Work
3 October 2019
For those clubs operating Class 4 Gaming, you will all be aware that back in June the DIA put out a call for expressions of interest from those wishing to be involved in a working group on cashless gaming.
Recently we received an update on the cashless gambling work, advising that based on feedback, the Department have decided to expand the scope of this work to consider gambling technologies more broadly.
The Department agree that the cashless project sits alongside others (such as projects looking at the future of our licensing and electronic monitoring systems) to ensure that the DIA can be an effective, modern regulator into the future. There are many emerging gambling technologies that may warrant exploration, and that the interplay between them is important.
What this all means is that the Department will continue to conduct research, but will not establish a dedicated working group as it first suggested.
We thank those clubs that put their hands up to be involved in the initial cashless discussions and as always we will keep all members informed as information comes our way.
