Covid-19 Vaccine - Guideline for Employment

9 February 2021

The first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine is due to reach New Zealand by April and will be available to border staff and essential health workers in the first instance.  Already there is a lot of talk around whether an employer has the ability to insist that employees are vaccinated against COVID-19.

This is a complex topic which does not come with a standard yes or no answer.  The Auckland Business Chamber has produced a short guidance paper on the vaccine and employment related issues which you can download below;

We along with the business chamber recommend employers take a cautionary approach and seek legal advice when considering vaccination issues in the workplace.  This is likely to be a moving beast and clubs will need to ensure they are referring to the latest information and advice.
