Clubs New Zealand 2019 Annual Conference, AGM + Expo - Get ready to be entertained
24 January 2019
Along with the opportunities to learn something new, network and discuss the club industry the Clubs New Zealand Conference, AGM + Expo gives attendees the chance to relax, unwind, experience the hospitality on offer at the host club and of course enjoy some amazing musical talent.
The 2019 Conference, AGM + Expo will be no different with the Tauranga Citizens Club arranging some brilliant entertainment throughout the conference.
Wednesday 20th March - Back Porch
The early birds to conference will be able to enjoy the music of Backporch. As their name suggests Backporch was born on the backporch of our shack in the Coromandel hills, aided and abetted by friends, family, and the odd drop of whiskey!
No matter who they have played to/with, they found that the most popular songs were those classics from past decades that evoked strong memories of good times, simple times....songs several generations could sing along with, tap a foot to, get up and jive to...
By creating their own "bare-bones" backing tracks they found they could infuse these timeless party songs with new energy, rather than using the original backing and just doing a "karaoke" over them.
With close harmonies, guitar, the meanest ukelele picking, and blues harp/harmonica they keep the down-home feel as they pay tribute to the American greats from the earliest 1930s Country Blues, 1940's Swing, 1950's Rockabilly, and 1960's RocknRoll and Country Rock, right up to recent tracks by the likes of Jason Mraz, Darius Rucker, Ben Harper etc.
Since moving to Tauranga they have added to the repertoire by including many more Latin and other songs specifically for the ballroom dancers and the like; they have over 20 waltzes, 12 rhumbas, Cha cha's, Salsa, etc etc.
