Clubs need to be preparing for the Minimum Wage increases now

2 November 2017

One of the first major announcements to come from the new coalition Government was the commitment to increasing the minimum wage to $20 an hour by 2021, which will be kicked off with an increase from the current minimum wage of $15.75 to $16.50 as of 1 April 2018.

With wages often being a clubs biggest cost, you must be preparing for the increases now and the impact they are going to have on your budget and profit margins.

The reality for most clubs is that you are going to have to pass these costs onto your members and being able to do this incrementally with ample warning is going to be much more tolerable than sudden annual increases.

If the minimum wage increase is not on the agenda for discussion, it is time to add it in.
