It's Raining in the Club
It's raining in the club!
Damian Jackson of Mount Manaia Club talks about what happened after the roof blew off the club
"It was 6.30am and the phone went. It was our barmaid Anni, ringing to tell me it was raining in the club! I got up and drove there to find the roof off and Pink Batts all through the trees. If we'd had some lights, it would have looked cool. Inside it was like Lake Taupo. There was water all over the pool tables and carpet. The TV had enough water in it for a goldfish and a few plants.
By 7.30am we had Steve from Northland Property Maintenance on the phone. He wasted no time getting his workers in to tarp and seal the roof. They worked all day and just made it happen.
On Monday morning I met with Bruce from loss adjusters McLarens Young, and Paul from Northland Property Maintenance. We agreed on the work required and set things in motion.
The lads set to work straight away. We were able to remain open all through the repairs thanks to them always clearing up after they finished at night. The job ran smoothly from start to finish. I'm convinced that the easy flow of communication between us, Abbott and the contractors played a huge part in that.
We were really impressed with how quickly Abbott and McLarens Young processed the claim and how Northland Property Maintenance worked closely with us all the way through to get everything finished on time. They've all done a great job, and we had a big shout at the end to say thank you."
