The team at Deloitte have recently been in touch with us regarding Inland Revenues increasing focus on compliance within the hospitality sector.  Inland Revenue have been making contact via letter,  click here 78.19 Kb to view a example of the letters being sent.

Inland Revenue have acknowledged that most operators within the hospitality industry are doing the right thing, they are however concerned about a number of practices identified within the sector, for example, staff being paid "under the table", businesses not declaring all income derived from cash transactions and poor record keeping.

It is not yet known whether Inland Revenue will be looking a Clubs as part of this focus, however if you do receive one of these letters take it seriously and talk to your accountant/tax advisor immediately.
