Harm Minimisation Training Online Awareness Module Trial
Following Dr Phil Townshends presentation at the Club Managers Conference we announced that the Problem Gambling Foundations Online Harm Minimisation Awareness Training Programme was gearing up to enter into a trial phase, we asked for six clubs to participate in the trials which are due to get under way shortly.
So far we have four clubs who have expressed an interest in taking part in the trial, and these Clubs will be contacted shortly by the Problem Gambling Foundation to commence the trial. If there are any other Clubs that wish to participate can you please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. About the programme;
The programme is run via a database which can identify which Clubs and staff require training. This is an online training programme which requires participants to read information and watch a series of videos before answering questions. The training is designed to be done at a time which is convenient for the club and its staff members, and can be done in small bites.
The online training will give your staff members the ability to meet their requirements under the Gambling Act 2003, yet face to face training will still be required after approximately 6 months to ensure that they fully understand their obligations around harm minimisation. We will also be recommending that ALL Clubs New Zealand staff members complete the online training programme whether they have already completed the face to face training or not.
